Thuy Ngo, D.O., M.Ed.
Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Director
Dr. Thuy L. Ngo is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her area of clinical expertise is Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Dr. Ngo received her undergraduate degree in chemistry with a specialization in biochemistry from the University of Virginia. She earned her D.O. from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and her M.Ed. from the University of Houston. She completed her residency and chief residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children in Virginia and performed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Wassam Rahman, M.D.
Dr. Rahman’s clinical and quality improvement initiatives focus on all aspects of pediatric emergency medicine including clinical care, mentoring faculty and other learners, systems integration, developing the electronic documentation system, development of clinical pathways, research and emergency and disaster preparedness. He joined the Pediatric Emergency Center at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in 1997 as assistant director and was named medical director of the emergency center and chair of the division of pediatric emergency medicine in 2003. Dr. Rahman is a member of the clinical faculty at Johns Hopkins All Children’s and is very involved in teaching pediatric residents. He also co-chairs a pediatric emergency medicine course that provides continuing medical education to the community pediatricians, emergency medicine physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses.
Frank Carnevale, M.D.
Dr. Carnevale specializes in pediatric emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. He joined the hospital staff in 2018. Dr. Carnevale earned his medical degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and his fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
Krysten Chin, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Chin is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. She joined the hospital staff in 2020. She most recently served as an attending physician in transport service in the Division of Emergency and Transport Services at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Lauren Friedman, D.O.
Dr. Friedman specializes in pediatric emergency medicine in the Emergency Center at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2020. She was previously a physician in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland.
Danielle Hirsch, M.D.
Dr. Hirsch specializes in pediatric emergency medicine in the Emergency Center at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2017. She previously was a pediatric emergency medicine physician and assistant professor of emergency medicine at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.
Manju Korattiyil, M.D.
Dr. Korattiyil is an emergency medicine physician at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. She joined the hospital staff in 2022. Dr. Korattiyil was previously a pediatric emergency medicine physician at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital. Her professional interests include pediatric advocacy and medical education.
Samantha Lucrezia, M.D.
Dr. Lucrezia specializes in pediatric emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2023. She earned her medical degree from SUNY Upstate College of Medicine in Syracuse, New York. She completed her pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins All Children’s, including a rotation in pediatric emergency medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She then completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Louisville, Norton Children’s Hospital in Kentucky. She also earned a master’s degree in clinical investigation sciences.
Meghan Martin, M.D.
Dr. Martin is an emergency medicine physician at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. She trained in general pediatrics at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Martin completed a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York.
Elias Matta, M.D.
Dr. Matta completed his pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Morristown Medical Center, a member of Atlantic Health System. After graduating from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, he completed a pediatric residency at Goryeb Children’s Hospital (also in Morristown), where he was named pediatric resident teacher of the year. He is board certified in pediatrics and board eligible in pediatric emergency medicine. Dr. Matta is fluent in French, Arabic and English.
Danielle Mercurio, D.O.
Dr. Mercurio is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in May 2017. Dr. Mercurio earned her degree in osteopathic medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed her pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. She completed a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Hospital for Children at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
Lisa Odendal, M.D.
Dr. Odendal specializes in pediatric emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2018. Her clinical interests include trauma and transport medicine, as well as clinical teaching. Before joining the hospital staff, Dr. Odendal was a clinical lecturer in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Calgary/Alberta Children's Hospital.
Joseph Perno, M.D.
Dr. Perno is the vice president of medical affairs at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. He joined the hospital staff in 2003. Dr. Perno focuses on aligning clinical resources across the continuum of care to ensure quality and patient safety as well as value-based services. His responsibilities include medical credentialing and privileging oversight, assessment of medical staff performance and enhancement of care coordination and clinical pathways with community pediatricians. He also oversees the medical library, radiology and lab teams. Dr. Perno maintains clinical time in the Emergency Center, where he started as an attending physician in 2003 and served as assistant medical director from 2005 through 2015.
Victoria Saccaro, M.D.
Dr. Saccaro is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 1995. Dr. Saccaro earned her medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. She completed a pediatric residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
Elizabeth Brennan, M.D.
A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Brennan completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital at Sinai in Baltimore, where she was chief pediatric resident. Before joining Johns Hopkins All Children’s, Dr. Brennan headed the Pediatric Hospitalist Division at Kernan Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, University of Maryland Medical System. She is board-certified in pediatrics.
Mary Chrisochos, D.O.
Dr. Chrisochos is a pediatric emergency physician at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2016. Dr. Chrisochos earned her medical degree at Nova Southeastern University and completed her pediatric residency at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Before joining Johns Hopkins All Children’s, she was an attending physician at two Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Emergency Departments and an assistant professor of pediatrics at Emory University.
Susanne Griffith, M.D.
Dr. Griffith is an emergency care physician at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She is in her second stint with the hospital, working here from 2003-2007 and returning in 2016. Dr. Griffith earned her medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency through the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and Tampa General Hospital.
Travis Walker, M.D.
Dr. Walker is the lead physician in the Neonatal Follow-Up Program clinic at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. He also sees patients as a newborn hospitalist at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital Center for Women and Babies, and as a pediatric urgent care physician in the Emergency Center. He joined the Johns Hopkins All Children’s staff in 2017.
