Fellowship Training Program

The Fellowship Training Program in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at Johns Hopkins was established in 1983 and has trained over 200 physicians, educators and research scientists who are experts in aging and associated issues such as frailty, dementia and inflammation. Our graduates have pursued exciting research and academic careers at a wide range of institutions and become stellar clinicians and leaders in health systems. Our fellowship program is fully accredited by the American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and is located on the campus of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. We’re consistently highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report for geriatric medicine.

Johns Hopkins and Baltimore: A Perfect Match
The School of Medicine's relationship with Baltimore City is a cornerstone of the geriatrics fellowship program. Because the city comprises multiple different, close-knit communities, the people you’ll care for here will teach you to meet older adults wherever they are. Whether you’re going into a home, caring for a deaf woman in an emergency room, or treating a Vietnam veteran at the VA, you’ll find individuals from all backgrounds and learn to bring your best to their treatment.
In addition to that invaluable experience, Baltimore has a wealth of job opportunities post-fellowship, which our program positions you to take advantage of. Baltimore is also convenient to multiple desirable locations on the East Coast, including New York City (about four hours by car or train), Philadelphia (about two hours), and Washington, D.C. (about an hour). Starting here sets you up for success wherever you land next.
