Isam Nasr, MD
- Director of Pediatric Trauma Program, Division of Pediatric Surgery
- Assistant Professor of Pediatric Surgery
Expertise: Pediatric General Surgery
As the only accredited pediatric trauma center in the State of Maryland, the Division of Emergency Medicine works with Maryland’s Emergency Medical Services to receive emergency trauma and other cases from Cumberland to the Eastern Shore. We also treat pediatric trauma cases 24 hours a day, seven days a week from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. If necessary, the pediatric trauma and adult ED share trauma capacity to reduce anxiety resulting from separation during stressful times.
Management of multi-system illness and trauma is provided through the Pediatric Emergency Department and the 40-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), which is staffed by pediatric surgeons and pediatric anesthesiology and critical care medicine specialists.
Members of the pediatric trauma team continue to be very active in educational activities in the region providing instructors for the Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) program as well as the ATLS® program.
For information on adult services, visit the Johns Hopkins Emergency Department.
