Eating Disorders
Our Eating Disorders program provides comprehensive care to adolescents and young adults with eating disorders.
The Johns Hopkins All Children’s Eating Disorders program treats adolescents and young adults struggling with eating disorders. Our team provides care in an outpatient setting and offers a wide range of services that include medical and nutrition evaluation and psychosocial assessment. We also educate families and caregivers in treating eating disorders and provide support along the way.
Our team uses a comprehensive approach to treating a variety of eating disorders that include:
- Anorexia nervosa
- Bulimia nervosa
- Avoidant restrictive food intake disorder
- Binge eating disorder
What to Expect
The initial visit may take longer than one hour and consist of a comprehensive patient evaluation by team members across multiple disciplines. The evaluation includes:
- Body composition analysis
- Extensive patient history
- Laboratory studies
- Physical exam
Once the patient evaluation is complete, we may refer the patient to a mental health expert in eating disorders for an evaluation and/or counseling services. If the patient is medically unstable, we may refer him or her to our inpatient team. When necessary, our team will discuss higher-level care including intensive outpatient treatment, partial hospitalization or residential treatment.
Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is a proud sponsor of the Alliance for Eating Disorders Tampa Bay Walk.
