Neuropsychiatry
Neuropsychiatry encompasses diseases of the brain such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and multiple sclerosis that have accompanying disorders of mood, behavior or thought content. A multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, and other clinicians provides assessment and treatment of adult patients of all ages using the latest evaluation tools. Ongoing care and consultation to other clinicians is provided. Inpatient and outpatient care are provided at two locations: the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
The Memory and Alzheimer's Treatment Center focuses care, research and education on patients with memory disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal degeneration, and other dementias. Other neuropsychiatry clinics treat patients with traumatic brain injury, behavioral sleep disorders, parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and Huntington's disease. In addition to a specialized inpatient unit at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Neuropsychiatry Program contains a number of specialized outpatient clinics, all of which also conduct research and train professionals.
