We are proud to work alongside Linda Regan, M.D., and the outstanding emergency medicine residents and faculty at Johns Hopkins to create the most interesting and exciting emergency medicine training program in the country.

Logan Weygandt, M.D., M.P.H., mentors the program year (PGY)-1 class. He has been assistant program director for the emergency medicine residency since 2017. He graduated from medical and graduate school at The Johns Hopkins University before completing his emergency medicine residency training at Northwestern University. After serving as chief resident at Northwestern, he returned to Baltimore to join the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2017. His academic interests include medical education, low-frequency and high-risk procedures, resuscitation and trauma disparities. His personal interests include bike riding, bouldering and keeping his puppies from destroying things. He practices clinically at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Michael Ehmann, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., mentors the PGY-2 class. He has been assistant program director for the emergency medicine residency since 2017 and oversees the residents’ clinical schedules. He graduated from medical and graduate school in New Orleans before completing the emergency medicine residency at Johns Hopkins. After serving as chief resident, he was a Focused Advanced Specialty Training fellow in disaster medicine and joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2016. His academic interests include medical student and resident education, CPR delivery and quality, and point-of-care ultrasound instruction. His personal interests include cycling, crossword puzzles, New Orleans-style cuisine and his dog, Professor Longhair. He practices clinically at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Leah Bright, D.O., mentors the PGY-3 class and oversees our weekly conference core content curriculum. She has been associate program director for the emergency medicine residency since 2017 after joining the residency leadership team as assistant program director in 2013. After completing her residency and an ultrasound fellowship at The State University of New York Downstate/Kings County Hospital in New York City, she joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2011. Her interests include medical education and training. She focuses on standardized sign-out systems in emergency medicine, palliative care in the emergency department and resident curriculum development. She practices clinically at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Kamna Balhara, M.D., M.A., mentors the PGY-4 class. She has been assistant program director for the emergency medicine residency since 2018. She graduated from medical school and completed her emergency medicine residency at The Johns Hopkins University. After serving as chief resident, she was a Focused Advanced Specialty Training fellow in global emergency services before spending two years as assistant program director for the emergency medicine residency program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She returned to Baltimore to join the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2018. Her academic interests include medical education, global emergency medicine and medical humanities. Her personal interests include all things French, kayaking, traveling and trying new cuisines. She practices clinically at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Our combined experiences and interests are varied and broad, and we are uniformly and vigorously committed to the education and development of our residents in all aspects of emergency medicine. We are consistently impressed with the accomplishments of our current and former residents, and we look forward to working with you as you continue to strive for excellence during residency and beyond.
