The nomination, which was submitted by one of David's patients, stated in part, "David is an amazing and talented nurse that deserves to be recognized. When I was recently discharged from the hospital, my power port was de accessed and unfortunately, the hospital did not file a resumption of care form. I had a procedure scheduled the next day which required IV access and David worked tirelessly to secure the necessary documentation. Thanks to him, the procedure went as planned. I know I am in excellent hands in David’s care." David's manager, Kelly Kight shared, "David was a valued member of the JH PQIV team from 2011–2019 and rejoined in 2021, continuing his work until transitioning into his current full-time case manager role this past March. A proud Navy Veteran and active volunteer with his local fire department, David is a strong and unwavering advocate for his patients, ensuring their needs are always prioritized. Known for his conscientious approach and collaborative spirit, David embodies the values of our team, and we are proud to recognize him as a DAISY Award recipient—an honor that reflects the exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism he brings to his role every day."


Winter 2026, Sarah Vanderwagen and Gini Browning

The nomination, which was submitted by the mother of one of Sarah and Gini’s patients, stated in part, "From our very first infusion, Gini showed my 5-year-old daughter a level of care, compassion, and thoughtfulness that went a long way in helping her ultimately accept these ongoing infusions. In recent months, Sarah has also joined our care team at Holabird and between her and Gini, we truly feel we are in the absolute best hands. The degree to which they've gone above and beyond is more deeply appreciated than they'll ever know."

Gini and Sarah's manager, Kim Lewis shared, "Gini is simply amazing. She gives her all, putting the needs of others first whether by rearranging her day to ensure a patient receives the care they need, lending a hand to help others, or searching for the perfect sticker to bring a smile.”

Kim continues, "Sarah advocates for her patients, always thinking of innovative ideas on how we can make the patient’s experience better. Like Gini, Sarah has received many compliments recognizing her compassion, excellence in care, and altruism.”


Fall 2025, Teresa Hiebler

The nomination, which was submitted by the daughter of one of Teresa's patients, stated in part, “From day one, Teresa consistently went above and beyond our expectations because she treated Dad as if he were her own father. Within a short span of about 9 months, her expert care and professional collaboration with his nurse practitioner was crucial in healing his chronic leg wound of 50 years.” Tammy Fallon, Teresa's manager, commented “Teresa exemplifies the very essence of nursing excellence. Time and time again, she has demonstrated not only exceptional clinical skill, but also the kindness, empathy, and patience that define a truly great nurse. We are proud to celebrate her outstanding contributions to nursing and to our team.”


Summer 2025, Stacey Milburn

The nomination, which was submitted by the daughter of one of Stacey's patients, stated in part "I definitely attribute my mother's recovery to the excellent care provided by Ms. Milburn. She is skilled and knowledgeable, always being able to recognize the appropriate course of treatment for my mother's wound care. She has become part of our family and is extremely caring and compassionate as she provides her nursing service" Amanda Mitchell, Stacey's manager added, "No amount of education and mentoring can teach the level of compassion and kindness Stacey shows to her patients. She is reliable, thoughtful and thorough, and goes above and beyond whenever a patient requires that extra bit of time and expertise. The DAISY Award is a fitting tribute to her hard work and excellence in the field of nursing.”


Spring 2025, Mary Beth Loveless

The nomination, which was submitted by the mother of one of Mary Beth's patients, stated in part "Nurse Mary Beth takes her time to sit with me, listen to my concerns, and offer emotional and practical support. Her compassionate care had a profound impact on both my emotional well-being and my confidence as a new mom. The care I received from Nurse Mary Beth was a true example of how outstanding compassionate care can transform an experience of uncertainty and fear into one of confidence and connection". Heather Edwards, Mary Beth's manager, commented "For the past 15 years, Mary Beth has been an invaluable member of our pediatric team. Her commitment, empathy, and passion make a profound difference in the lives of our patients and their families. We are beyond grateful to have her as part of our team and are honored to recognize her as this quarter's DAISY award winner."


Winter 2025, Lisa Moyers

The nomination, which was submitted by one of Lisa’s patient’s, stated in part "Lisa has been my home care nurse since early 2021 conducting my IVIG every three weeks. I was nervous about the whole process and letting some unknown person into my home, but Lisa won my family and I over from day one! She's polite, compassionate, gets along with my family and loves my two dogs. She's a consummate professional and may be the most organized person I've ever met :) which means everything is in its place when we start. At this point, Lisa is a part of our family, which makes me feel very lucky to have her." Chrissy Wiles, Lisa's manager, commented "Lisa gives it her ALL! She is knowledgeable, dedicated, compassionate, flexible, and always willing to take on extra responsibilities whenever needed. She consistently goes above and beyond for her patients and her team. Her ability to adapt and excel makes her an invaluable asset."


Fall 2024, Jessica Hall

The nomination, which was submitted by one of Jessica’s patient’s, stated in part that "Jessica went beyond the call of duty to make sure my wife and I were comfortable in this challenging time. Jessica is an asset to your organization...caring, knowledgeable, respectful, and the BEST!! She has a way to make a bad situation better and easier to cope with. Thank you, Johns Hopkins, for having Jessica on your team. Our experience with her was amazing!!" Tammy Fallon, Jessica's manager, commented "Jessica's wisdom, gained from 9 years of practice enabled her to build a robust set of skills for delivering care to a very medically complex community of patients. In addition to being a versatile and masterful nurse, Jessica is one of the most caring, compassionate, and thoughtful people that I have the privilege of knowing."


Summer 2024, Jessica Lovelace

The nomination, which was submitted by one of Jessica’s patient’s, stated in part that “She has demonstrated the highest standard of professionalism. Jessica has a pleasant personality and she has a keen understanding of my health care needs. Moreover, she was quite responsive to all the orders requested by my doctor. Clearly, she has been an asset in my recovery and I am exceedingly glad to have her as my nurse.” Carla Johnson, Jessica’s manager, commented that Jessica “…has been blessed with the gift of compassion and understanding. Jessica’s compassion stretches several arm’s length for not only her patients but her community, as well."


Spring 2024, Laura Ridgeway

The nomination, which was submitted by one of Laura’s patient’s, stated in part that “Laura has been my home wound care nurse for years. I’m a complicated patient, but Laura is so good at what she does and has such an amazing bedside manner that I always feel I’ve got an advocate…” Carla Johnson, Laura’s manager, commented that “Laura has the gift of patience. She is understanding, thoughtful, and caring… She is a true team player, always striving to meet the mark, and help out her team. It is no surprise at all that Laura has been honored with this quarter’s DAISY award. It is well deserved!"
