Why Give to the Brady Urological Institute?
Charitable contributions have provided the financial foundation for the Brady Urological Institute’s mission, vision and impact on urologic treatment and research since “Diamond Jim” Brady, a urology patient at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, donated more than $600,000 to establish what is now known as The James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute. In today’s dollars, Mr. Brady’s gifts to Johns Hopkins would total almost $16,000,000. This groundbreaking institute, the first of its kind in North America, placed patient care, laboratory research and teaching under one roof. It began a tradition of discovery that continues today.
The Brady Urological Institute, located in Baltimore, MD, treats a national and international patient base and is considered the preeminent center for urologic research in the world. Our international reputation is rooted in our people: bright, innovative surgeons, scientists and staff who love what they do. They thrive in our one-of-a-kind environment in which scientists and surgeons make our patients a priority.

Contributions to the Brady Urological Institute can be unrestricted and directed where the need is greatest. Contributions can also be designated to support a specific doctor, disease area or research program. Gifts can be made outright or pledged over a period of up to five years.

Many employers offer a matching gift program to their employees. For every dollar you donate to the Brady Urological Institute, your employer will match it either dollar for dollar, two dollars to one dollar or in more generous cases, three dollars to one dollar. All you need is a matching gift form from your employer’s public affairs department. Complete the section designated for employees and mail the form to us. We will manage all other details and paperwork.
