The Wilmer Biostats Team
Our statisticians and consultants are experienced experts in the design of vision-related studies and the analysis of eye-level data. We also have a knowledgeable support staff who can answer questions and find you the help you need.
Xiangrong Kong, Ph.D. - Director
Dr. Kong received her PhD in Biostatistics and received training in global health, infectious disease epidemiology, behavioral sciences and clinical retinal degenerations and physiology. She leads the Wilmer Biostatistics Center and is Director and Biostatistician of the Coordinating Center of international multi-center studies on inherited retinal diseases, including NAC Attack, a phase-3 clinical trial in retinitis pigmentosa, and natural history study on the Progression of Atrophy Secondary to Stargardt Disease (ProgStar). She provides scientific and administrative leadership to the studies. She also provides advanced statistical consulting to facilitate visual science and ophthalmological research at Wilmer.
Yanzhao (Izzie) Wang, M.D. M.P.H. — Program Manager
Ximin Li, ScM — Senior Biostatistician
Ms. Li is Senior Research Associate in the Department of Biostatistics, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and a biostatistician consultant in the Johns Hopkins Biostatistics Center. She has also been a core member of the Wilmer Biostatistics Center since 2018. She provides a wide range of statistical support including sample size calculation, data cleaning, data visualization, advising analysis approach and method, result interpretation, and conducting statistical analysis and programming. She also mentors junior biostatisticians at the Wilmer Biostatistics Center.
Wenqing (Cathy) Wang — Biostatistician
Cathy is currently pursuing an ScM in Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University, where she also earned dual Bachelor's degrees in Environmental Science and Public Health Studies. She has a solid foundation in survival and longitudinal data analysis, statistical machine learning, and missing data analysis. She is proficient in programming languages such as R, Python, and SQL. With a strong interest in clinical trials, Cathy has been supporting Dr. Kong’s clinical trial activities since her undergraduate senior year, and is working on developing statistical methods for simultaneously addressing multiple competing risks in clinical trial settings. She has provided statistical support to vision research projects involving analyses of longitudinal data analysis and large national survey database.
