In January 2024, Anthony “Tony” Roussos suffered a stroke in his Anne Arundel County, Maryland, home. Once stabilized at a local hospital, he was transferred to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for his rehabilitation. Tony had sessions three to four hours a day, six days a week. ResearchWorldwide Study Finds High Rates of Depression and Anxiety in People with Chronic Pain

This study led by investigators at Johns Hopkins Medicine found that 40% of adults with chronic pain experienced “clinically significant depression and anxiety.” Among those most at risk, the analysis showed, were women, younger adults and people with fibromyalgia.
