The Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Cardiac Sonography provides a comprehensive hands-on experience in a clinical setting for echocardiographic sonography.
Our faculty provides mentorship and training for students through advanced cardiac imaging technology and techniques.

The program is 14 months long. We offer a January cohort, which concludes the following February, and a July cohort, which concludes the following August.

- The January cohort application window is open July 1-Oct. 1.
- The July cohort application window is open Dec. 1-March 1.

- Interviews for the January cohort begin in mid-October, with acceptance letters sent out by the first week of November.
- Interviews for the July cohort begin in mid-March, with acceptance letters sent out by the first week of April.

Johns Hopkins does not offer any scholarships, but we do encourage our students to apply for any available scholarships in the field of sonography or allied health. One scholarship our students have been recognized for in the past is the The Alan D. Waggoner Sonographer Student Scholarship.

- Background check: $55.11 (only for accepted students)
- Books and supplies: approximately $800
- Uniforms: approximately $300

40 hours/week; typical hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., although clinical site hours may vary.

No, all classes and clinicals are completed in-person during the week.

Yes, this program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) since 2002.

As a CAAHEP-accredited program, students are eligible to sit for their adult echo boards through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) 60 days before graduation.

Students have all nationally recognized holidays off, 10 personal days to use as needed and an additional one week of spring break.

Yes, students must purchase and wear a gray scrub top and black scrub bottom.
