Overview

Welcome to the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Cardiac Sonography, Echocardiography Program. The program is a 14-month full-time accredited program, with cohorts beginning in January and July.

This program is designed to provide clinical training, including hands-on practice, for echocardiographic sonography and an academic curriculum in echocardiographic principles, technology, physics and instrumentation. Our goal is to prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains for the adult cardiac sonography concentration. We are dedicated to training sonographers who exemplify this standard and degree of excellence. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to sit for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) registry exams.

One of the many advantages of the program is that all clinical training is performed under the supervision of Johns Hopkins Hospital staff. There is a strong collaboration with the didactic and clinical instructors to ensure harmony throughout the program.

The Johns Hopkins Echocardiography Lab offers a variety of educational offerings in conjunction with the school didactic sessions. This includes biweekly staff education sessions, weekly Cardiology Fellowship Echocardiogram case review and Cardiology Grand Rounds.
