Biography
Dorothea "Dottie" Dickens, C.N.M., is a gynecology and obstetrics provider with Johns Hopkins Community Physicians. C.N.M. Dickens received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. She went on to complete her master's degree in nursing from Frontier Nursing University.
C.N.M. Dickens has decades of experience in high-risk labor and delivery as a registered nurse, while also supporting low-risk clients in having an unmedicated birth. She loves empowering women to make informed choices about their own bodies and healthcare. She enjoys partnering with her patients to provide evidence-based care. She firmly supports physiological birth. Additionally, she prides herself in being a health partner, guiding her patients through menarche to post-menopausal seasons of life.
Dottie has always felt called to be a midwife and is finally living a lifelong dream. She has achieved the following certifications: Certified Nurse Midwife, Advanced Cardiac Life Support/Basic life Support, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
C.N.M. Dickens has been married for more than 30 years and has three children. She loves pets, and has a dog and two cats. When she is not caring for her patients, she loves spending time outdoors and at the beach.
