Johns Hopkins Community Physicians is proud to offer this seamless primary care experience so that you can receive Johns Hopkins-quality care, where and when you need it. Adult and pediatric patients ages 3 months and older can connect virtually with a Johns Hopkins health care provider who is an extension of your primary care team in 24–48 hours — and often much sooner. During your appointment, we can order lab work and x-rays, and prescribe and refill certain medications. Current Johns Hopkins Medicine patients can schedule via MyChart.

Additionally, because Primary VirtualCare is managed and run by Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, we are able to provide most medication refills and help manage issues such as high blood pressure, blood sugar and more. Other on-demand virtual care options are not able to provide these services.

New Johns Hopkins Community Physicians patients that already have an establishing appointment scheduled can also Johns Hopkins Medicine Primary VirtualCare.

Current Johns Hopkins Community Physicians patients can schedule an appointment with Primary VirtualCare via MyChart. When you select “urgent” and “video visit,” your primary care provider and Primary VirtualCare providers will populate as options. You can also schedule via phone by calling your primary care office and selecting the "schedule an appointment" prompt.

You will access your appointment via MyChart. You will find more specific instructions for accessing your appointment when you log in to MyChart.

At this time, we have the capability to see patients that are physically in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., at the time of their visit. When you schedule an appointment in MyChart, options will populate with providers licensed in the state/district that you will be in at the time of your visit. More options may populate as providers with additional state licenses join the team.

Via secure video, the health care provider will discuss your symptoms, answer your questions, make a diagnosis and recommend next steps.

If medications are necessary, your provider will send prescriptions to your participating pharmacy.

Patients must complete check-in and be logged on five minutes prior to the scheduled appointment time. If the patient is late logging in to their appointment, there will be a possibility they will be asked to reschedule. If additional, in-person care is needed, you will be referred back to your primary care provider.
