Lactation Services
Our Guiding Principles
The Lactation Services team at Johns Hopkins All Children’s educates and empowers families to make breastfeeding choices and set the goals that are best for them. We support each patient family’s right to thrive physically and emotionally and celebrate any contribution of human milk from the infant’s own family.
Who We Are
Every member of our team is board certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners, the gold standard in lactation care. Our international board certified lactation consultants (IBCLCs) work with other health care professionals in a variety of settings to provide the highest quality care.
Our Services
Our team assists families with breastfeeding and pumping support, addresses concerns, and advocates and supports the health of mom and baby throughout their lactation journey.
Some of the services we provide include:
- Lactation counseling and breastfeeding help
- Information on and assistance with pumping and milk supply
- Pumping parts and equipment
- Breast milk storage in our Milk Depot
We are available to assist families with a baby who is inpatient in any area of the hospital. We are also available to talk to families after discharge about any issues with breastfeeding or pumping they may encounter after leaving the hospital.
