Conjoint/Immunology Cardiology Clinic
We provide care for patients who have had a heart transplant.
Our immunologists and cardiologists provide care for patients who have received a heart transplant and have experienced changes in their immune system.
Immunologist Jolan Walter, M.D., Ph.D., provides in-depth immune evaluation and genetic testing for accurate diagnoses and individualized treatment planning that addresses each patient’s unique needs. The treatments we provide include:
Personalized immunoglobulin G therapy
For patients with low levels of immunoglobulin G (IgG), which is the part of blood plasma that contains infection-fighting antibodies, IgG therapy replaces the IgG in their blood with the levels needed to fight infection. This is done either through an IV (intravenous) or under the skin (subcutaneous) route.
Biological therapy for autoimmune conditions
Biological therapies are types of medications that are created using advanced technologies and allow us to suppress or stimulate a patient’s immune system in a highly-targeted way. For immune deficient patients who are prone to infection, this helps us to better balance their immune system.
