Programs and Services

We provide a wide range of services that support your individual needs—from connecting you to important resources to offering workshops on childcare topics.

Your Well-being

We’ll start by talking in-depth with you about your life, health and any factors that might be affecting your well-being. Together we'll develop a customized plan based on your individual needs, working together to address your goals. Women who experience high levels of psychosocial stress—which results from dealing with stressful situations in our lives—are at risk for poor pregnancy outcomes, including infant loss and premature birth. We work with you to identify the things in your life that might be causing high levels of stress, and connect you with the stress reduction classes and workshops offered by our community partners that can help you.

Education and Support

We connect you to a variety of group classes and workshops to help you address your individual needs and goals. The classes and workshops cover topics like:

  • Self-care
  • Infant care
  • Reproductive health
  • Breastfeeding
  • Safe sleep
  • Injury prevention (car seat safety)
  • Father engagement
  • Nutrition
  • Financial literacy

Eat to Thrive Nutrition and Wellness Program

Eating healthy food is an important part of your health care journey, and we’re here to support you along the way. The Eat to Thrive program provides fresh food and nutrition education to participants. The food is “prescribed” by a nutrition expert to support your family’s overall health and nutrition needs, and we also provide information on nutrition tips and skills for cooking food that is delicious and easy to prepare.

Contact your Community Health Worker or call the Healthy Start program at 727-767-6780 to learn more, enroll in the Eat to Thrive program and schedule a time to select food to take home and prepare.

Families who are enrolled can receive their prescribed food on the first floor of the Johns Hopkins All Children's Child Development and Rehabilitation Center located at:

880 6th St. S, 1st Floor
St. Petersburg, FL 33701

Fatherhood/Male Involvement

We provide individual and group education and training programs as part of our fatherhood initiative and case management services for men, including a men’s group that meets monthly and is open to the community. Our team can provide information and referrals to community resources for fathers and/or men associated with mothers enrolled in Healthy Start.

Community Services and Events

We host a number of events throughout the year that support the community and provide helpful tips and resources for families, and are open to anyone, not just those receiving case management services from Healthy Start. You can learn more about our events here. In addition, we collaborate with community initiatives that align with our mission.
