You can make a difference for patients by making a gift to Sibley Memorial Hospital. Your gift will ensure that we continue to provide the best care possible to our community by supporting lifesaving new technologies, continuing education for our dedicated caregivers, and innovative programs and therapies for patients.
The Power of Community 2024
Sibley was awarded Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and is the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice—awarded to only 10% of hospitals in the U.S., placing Sibley among other elite area hospitals. The designation benefits both patients and families by driving improvements in clinical outcomes for patients.
Donors support more than a half-dozen cancer patient support initiatives including The Patricia Liberatore Fund (a.k.a. Patty’s Fund), the Lids Foundation Fund, the Gail Robinson Fund, Gynecologic-Oncology Patient Support Fund, National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), and the American Cancer Society Lodging Fund to provide transportation, housing, and food assistance services to patients to ensure they always have access to the cancer care they need when they need it.
Sibley opened its brand-new, state-of-the-art intensive care unit (ICU) with 18 spacious patient rooms in 2023 to better care for our most acutely ill patients.
Sibley delivers more than 4,000 babies annually—more than any other hospital in Washington, D.C.
In fiscal year 2023, Sibley saw almost 22,000 visits to the Infusion Center and treats more than 2,500 patients annually.
As one of only 42 proton centers in the U.S., the Johns Hopkins Proton Therapy Center at Sibley is one of the largest and most advanced proton centers in the world. Since its opening in 2019, Sibley’s Proton Center has treated more than 1,500 patients.
Sibley’s Young Professionals Board is focused on raising funds to increase access to cancer care in underserved areas of our community.
Sibley continues to partner with local nursing schools through the Bridge Scholars Program to support need-based scholarships for nursing students as they transition to clinical practice at Sibley upon graduation.
Sibley now has two geriatrics-focused resource nurses in the Emergency Department (ED) to better support Sibley’s older adult population which comprises a large portion of our patients.
