Johns Hopkins Orthopaedic Surgery Scholarship to Promote Health Equity

The Johns Hopkins Department of Orthopaedic Surgery invites medical students who are committed to addressing health care disparities, and are interested in pursuing a career in orthopaedic surgery to apply for their fourth-year medical student clerkship at our institution.
Scholarship Includes:
- One-month clinical clerkship
- Mentorship by Department of Orthopaedic Surgery faculty member
- Financial assistance
Students must be eligible to participate in clinical rotations at their home medical school. Clerkships are only available to medical students attending LCME-approved U.S. and Canadian medical schools. Once accepted, mentorship is provided by Department of Orthopaedic Surgery faculty members during the clerkship, as well as financial assistance (*$500 registration fee waiver, $500 stipend for the month-long rotation).
Applicants who are women and/or from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine are strongly encouraged to apply! According to the AAMC: "Underrepresented in medicine means those racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population."
