Social Work Field Education Program

Our Goal: To produce a skills-ready workforce rooted in the Maryland Social Work Code of Ethics and the NASW Code of Ethics. Overview: The Johns Hopkins Hospital has a tradition of commitment to professional social work education. Fieldwork is an important component of social work education. It is through the integration of theoretical material presented in the classroom and guided fieldwork which prepares one for professional practice. Learners will work within an interdisciplinary team, providing direct care to patients and families. Additionally, they will actively participate in Field Seminar, a program which exposes students to diverse and scholarly presentations.

Candidates: This program is designed for a learner interested in the intersectionality of healthcare, behavioral health, systems and community engagement. The successful field candidate is someone with an excellent educational foundation, superior communication skills, and the ability to adapt to a complex and fast-paced organization.

Application: Learners must be referred by their academic Field Education Office.
