Harry J. Duffey Family Patient and Family Services Team

Department of Oncology Social Work provides for the psychological, social, emotional, and practical needs of cancer patients and their families.  They are masters-level social workers with expertise in the specialized field of oncology.  The social workers can teach you how to manage the stress and changes that may come with cancer.  The office, located on the first floor of the Weinberg Building, Suite 1210, offers you other services as well, such as information about housing, transportation, counseling, education and support groups.  For more information, call (410) 955-8934.

Louise Knight is the Director of the Harry J. Duffey Family, Patient and Family Services Program. She graduated with a Baccalaureate Degree in Human Services from The University of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and with a Master of Social Work Degree from Temple University. She has extensive experience in the oncology social work field and has published in the areas of clinical and departmental management. She is the President of the Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care, a member of the Association of Oncology Social Work and a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice, Social Work Division.

Tambra Chisolm is a Clinical Social Worker with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center assigned to JHH @ Greenspring Station. She graduated with a Baccalaureate degree in Sociology from the State University of New York at Albany, a Master of Social Work degree from City University of New York @ Hunter College School of Social Work and a Master of Arts from Loyola University Maryland in Spiritual and Pastoral Care. She has a particular interest in palliative care, grief and loss and a special interest in End-of-Life Work as a Doula.

Bryony Dodsworth is a Clinical Oncology Social Worker with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. Bryony received her baccalaureate degree in Sociology, a minor in social work, and certificate in event planning from the University of Iowa. She graduated with her Master’s in Social Work from St. Ambrose University. Bryony has a particular interest in social determinants of health and how they can be improved at a large scale to better assist her patients.

Maya Koepke is a Clinical Oncology Social Worker with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. She graduated with a Baccalaureate degree in Anthropology and a Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in clinical health from the University of Maryland. While pursuing her master's degree, she was a Behavioral Health and Workforce Integration Service and Education Fellow. She is a member of the Association of Oncology Social Work. She has a particular interest in care coordination, and helping patients and families adjust to illness, grief, and loss.

Aja Lecointe-Wilkinson is a Clinical Oncology Social Worker with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. She graduated with a Baccalaureate degree in Psychology from Rochester Institute for Technology with a minor in American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. She graduated from Morgan State University with a Master of Social Work, specializing in gerontology and end-of-life care. Aja has particular interests in adjustment to illness, grief and loss and community advocacy.

Chaula Negandhi is a Clinical Oncology Social Worker with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. She graduated with a Baccalaureate Degree in Psychology from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a specialization in aging and dementia care. While at the University of Michigan, she was a McGregor Geriatric Fellow. She has a particular interest in financial toxicity and access to care.

Avery Ruben is a Clinical Oncology Social Worker with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is an MSW fellow in the Zelda Foster Studies Program in Palliative and End-of-Life Care. Avery also holds a Post Master's Certificate in Palliative and End-of-Life Care from New York University's Zelda Foster Studies Program.

Laura is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in the outpatient setting. Laura graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 with her MSW. She has worked in oncology and outpatient psychiatry as a psychotherapist. Laura is passionate about the psychosocial impacts of chronic illness and utilizing evidence-based therapies for short-term treatments in health care settings.

Reverend Miriam provides spiritual support primarily to the Weinberg inpatients, their families, and staff. She completed a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Ohio, followed by an Advanced Master’s degree in Practical Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary.  She is an Ordained ELCA (Lutheran) Pastor. Miriam has a particular interest in the emerging field of environmental chaplaincy, exploring the intersection of healthcare and environmental factors and what the natural world can teach us about body, mind, and spirit.

Rev. Tasha Brownfield serves patients with cancer and their loved ones in the ambulatory settings at Johns Hopkins Weinberg and Viragh buildings, Bayview, and Green Spring Station. Tasha is trained by the Johns Hopkins Hospital's Clinical Pastoral Education Program and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and Psychology from Seton Hill University and a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School.
