Priority Partners In The Community
Healthy Hack Event to Offer Cooking Demonstration
Access to food is critical for families in food deserts or enduring financial challenges. Also important is the knowledge of what to do with those healthy food items. Priority Partners is collaborating with FoodWorks, part of the Maryland Food Bank, to develop a 60-90 minute cooking demonstration for community members.
Working with the FoodWorks chef, the experience will expose participants to readily available fresh, healthy and affordable foods to cook a meal on a budget. Ingredients for the recipe were intentionally shopped for and purchased at convenient budget retailers. The chef will guide participants on how to use those ingredients to cook a meal for a family of four.
The meal demonstration will include a copy of the recipe and a takeaway meal kit with the ingredients for participants to prepare the same meal at home. Our Priority Partners Community Health Advocates will be on hand to offer additional nutritional and other healthy eating tips along with takeaways for the participants.
The Healthy Hack events are being planned with community partners, including Washington County Public Library, United Way of Central Maryland and Federalsburg Library.
