The Salisbury community recently celebrated a truly grand opening of a new Priority Partners Cupboards Project free self-serve mini-pantry. On Sept. 26, the latest, fully stocked mini-pantry was unveiled to great fanfare at the Rebirth Community Resource & Support Center on Division Street.
Priority Partners was joined at the free event by several local vendors and scores of attendees enjoying the live music, refreshments and health resources. More than a celebration, the new installation is the first mini-pantry in Wicomico County and represents yet another victory in our effort take on food insecurity in our communities.
Started in 2021, the Cupboards Project has now placed five mini-pantries across Maryland neighborhoods and launched three “Club On The Go” mobile pantries. Working under the motto “Take What You Need, Leave What You Can,” the custom-built mini-pantries provide free healthy food and nutrition resources to remote or underserved neighborhoods.
Priority Partners CEO Ed Kumian led the unveiling ceremonies along with Rebirth CEO Habacuc Petion. Vendors in attendance with Priority Partners included Chesapeake Health, H.O.P.E., City of Salisbury Housing and Community Development Department and Rebirth.
The Cupboards Project is supported by the generous donations of our community partners. We welcome your in kind and food donations in support of this important project. Learn more about the Priority Partners Cupboards Project at prioritypartnerscupboards.org.
