Child Injury Prevention Network

The Johns Hopkins Child Injury Prevention Network (CIPN) is committed to reducing the burden of injury — one child at a time. CIPN is a collaborative group of faculty, staff members, and students across various areas of Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

We are dedicated to advancing research and its application to bring evidence-based services and programs to the patients and families in the Baltimore community and across the region. Through injury prevention services, including consultations, community outreach, referrals, resources and safety products, we educate families and providers on how to best reduce the risk of injury.

What We Do

The Child Injury Prevention Network is designed to:
Identify opportunities for and undertake collaborative research projects to address key gaps in the science of injury prevention
Unify and strengthen policy advocacy efforts at local, state and national levels
Use evidence-based practices to implement interventions focused on reducing childhood injury
Share information and activities to coordinate efforts and harmonize messages and priorities

You Make The Call: Bike Helmet Safety

Every two minutes a child is treated in the emergency room for a bicycle-related injury. One of the best ways to protect your children is by making sure they wear a bike helmet every time they ride.

Prevention Resources

We understand the importance of patients and families having access to helpful information about the conditions associated with chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). Below are various resources compiled to help manage living with ME/CFS. (Learn about third-party links.)

Product Safety

Product recalls can lead to injuries. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) works to save lives and keep families safe by reducing the unreasonable risk of injuries associated with consumer products. Visit CPSC Recalls to see if products in your home meet safety standards or have been recalled.  You can also call the CPSC Consumer Hotline 800-638-2772.
