It is the policy of the Organization that investigators or other study team members of human subjects research studies who wish to become participants in those studies are human subjects.  Principal Investigators (PIs) must specifically request and the JHM IRBs must specifically approve such self-experimentation. It is the responsibility of the PI to request permission for this participation before it occurs, either in the initial application to the IRB or in a subsequent Change in Research application.
