The JHM IRB charges review fees for commercially funded studies and for studies where the JHM IRB is serving as the single IRB (sIRB). 

Effective July 1, 2024, studies with commercial financial support in excess of $15,000 will be subject to standard IRB fees. The new fee schedule will apply to new applications submitted on or after 7/1/2024. Studies submitted prior to 7/1/2024 will continue to be charged at the applicable fee schedule tied to the date of submission.

To ensure each department is treated fairly and to increase overall efficiency, we continue to require each department to specify a non-sponsored account for billing IRB review fees. All IRB review fees for principal investigators in that department will be billed against that account until it is determined that a study specific Internal Order number has been assigned to the reviewed study.

This fee schedule reflects the JHM IRB fee rate for sIRB review that will be applied to all new requests for sIRB services approved on or after 7/1/2021. Each request for sIRB services must be submitted to the JHM IRB via a reliance request. A study specific budget will be prepared for each reliance request that is approved.

Initial Applications that were submitted on or between 7/1/2017 and 7/31/2018 are subject to the following fee schedule:

• Studies monitored by SKCCC CRO will not be charged a separate IRB monitoring fee.
