Research Summary
Validate gold standard molecular testing on different sample types including swabs (nasal, mid-turbinate, nasopharyngeal, oropharyngeal) in viral transport media, oral fluids (saliva, spit, passive drool, oral crevicular fluid) self-collected, clinician-collected, home-collected using diverse platforms with the highest sensitivity to avoid interruptions in testing. Centrillion and Perkin Elmer assays to genotype and confirm SARS-CoV-2 viral particles among the Test Us at Home remnant samples. Continue to develop a COVIDCorps of research study coordinators that delineate the epidemiology that will inform asymptomatic participant selection depending on the diagnostic assay undergoing performance evaluation. Continue to support the Test Us Bank biorepository to store excess samples for future validation testing for earlier stage diagnostics in WP1 or assays that have been redirected to other mechanisms.The RADx CSC will also contract with Johns Hopkins University for support of statistical analyses. Johns Hopkins investigators will continue to be involved in manuscript preparation and data analyses, laboratory support for existing specimen analyses, and infectious disease specialist insight.
