Hormone Therapy for Peri- and Postmenopausal Women with HIV (HoT)

Summary

Women with HIV experience more frequent and severe menopause symptoms such as hot flashes and are at higher risk for the complications of reproductive aging such as neurocognitive impairment, bone loss, and heart disease. Hormone therapy can alleviate menopause symptoms but has not been studied in women with HIV. Using the infrastructure of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, we propose to examine whether hormone therapy can effectively treat symptoms and minimize key aging-related comorbidities of menopause.
