Research Summary

The main objective of this project is to identify the most optimal antibacterial companions to omadacycline (OMC) for treatment of Mycobacteroides abscessus (Mab) disease. The following criteria will be prioritized for the selection of the companion antibacterials: improvement in efficacy, minimization of drug resistance emergence and time to stable cure. The following specific aims are proposed to identify optimal antibacterial companions to omadacycline for treatment of M. abscessus disease. SPECIFIC AIM 1: Identify OMC+companion dual drug combinations with highest efficacies in a pre-clinical mouse model of pulmonary M. abscessus infection. SPECIFIC AIM 2: Identify triple-drug combination containing OMC with highest efficacy against Mab.
