The Claudia Mayer / Tina Broccolino Cancer Resource Center has a full-service wig salon, Hair with Care. We offer a sizeable selection of low, moderate and higher priced wigs and professional hair styling services designed specifically for your hair as it changes during and after cancer treatment or due to other hair loss causes such as alopecia, medication side effects and menopause.

Services

Hair with Care offers personalized and custom consultation for wigs, toppers and hair pieces so that our clients can feel like themselves again. We offer a full range of products for all types of hair, ranging in cost and materials, lightweight heat friendly and non-heat friendly synthetic materials. Human hair wigs are an option and can be discussed at the time of your consultation. We measure, fit, style and modify wigs and hair pieces for each client’s needs.

Additionally, we have a great selection of head scarves, sleep caps and hats. Should you need help, we can shave your head, and teach you creative ways to tie and wear your scarves.

Insurance

Most insurance companies cover the cost (on average $300) of a cranial prosthesis when hair loss is due to a medical condition. This requires a prescription from a physician which states: 'cranial prosthesis'. Medicare does not cover the cost of cranial prostheses at this time. We offer free wigs which have been donated to the Center (new or nearly new, all washed and styled). In addition, we offer lower cost and mid-range wigs. Contact your insurance provider to determine your coverage for a cranial prosthesis.
