Why hospital medicine? I find the continuity of seeing patients through their entire hospitalization very rewarding. I really enjoy working through the multi-system complexities of hospitalized patients while striving to improve outcomes and quality of life for them.
What are your interests outside of hospital medicine? Hiking/spending time outdoors, traveling, cooking, and reading.
What is your favorite thing about Baltimore? I have just moved here, but so far I love being able to walk along the waterfront! I am very excited to continue to explore the city more.
What is your favorite quote? "You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step."
Kyra Panni
Hometown: Salisbury, MD
PA School: Nova Southeastern University- Jacksonville
Why hospital medicine? I want to know my patients well, to be more involved, to learn to think on my feet and ultimately to grow more as a PA.
What are your interests outside of hospital medicine? I like to be outdoors, hiking, running, playing with my pup or spending time with friends and family.
Rachel Reisdorf
Hometown: Gainesville, GA
PA School: The University of Alabama at Birmingham
Why hospital medicine? Before PA school, I worked alongside cardiac specialists and that is who I visualized myself to be once I completed my education. However, I worked alongside influential instructors during my hospital medicine rotations in PA school that prompted me to further pursue this specialty. What I treasure about hospital medicine is getting to serve patients at their most vulnerable, the variety of patients, and the collaboration of care with other subspecialties. No two patients are the same and no two days are the same, which makes hospital medicine a great specialty for continuous growth. I also enjoy following patients from admission to discharge and getting to see a patient leave with enhanced health.
What are your interests outside of hospital medicine? I like to travel, immerse myself in different cultures and meet new people. I also enjoy being outdoors as much as possible and I love going to orange theory fitness every morning.
What is your favorite thing about Baltimore? What I love about Baltimore is the food scene, the view from the harbor and the street art. My top favorite thing about Baltimore so far is the Cap'n Crunch french toast from Blue Moon cafe.
What is your favorite quote? "Empathy is communicating that incredibly healing message of, 'You're not alone.'" - Brene Brown
Brad Tucker
Hometown: Ellicott City, Maryland
PA School: Towson University/CCBC
Why hospital medicine? After finishing a biology degree at University of Delaware, I became an EMT for 3 years, which helped clarify my goal of pursuing a career in health care. I like fixing things as a kid and studying biology piqued my interest in the human body and how it can go wrong and hopefully heal itself.
What are your interests outside of hospital medicine? I am an outdoorsman, maker (taught myself to sew my own and my dog's clothing) and pet lover.
