If you are expecting a baby and your provider has concerns for your developing baby’s heart, it is important to have this evaluated before birth. Your physician may also recommend a scan of your baby’s heart if you have certain pre-existing health conditions. These assessments will help guide your care before birth and anticipate care for your baby after birth.

Close to Baby at Birth.
If delivery is planned at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, you will be close to your newborn baby after delivery and your baby will be in the care of experts immediately upon birth. Our labor and delivery unit is directly next to our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and close to the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU),cardiac catherization suite, and cardiac operating rooms.
Team Approach.
We work closely with experts you may see throughout Johns Hopkins Medicine, including maternal-fetal medicine specialists, genetic counselors, and pediatric sub-specialists. If your doctors are outside of Johns Hopkins, we strive to work closely with them to ensure you and your baby receive the best care.
