In this video, our director, Jeanne Sheffield, provides an overview of what maternal-fetal medicine specialists do and the unique offerings available to our patients at Johns Hopkins, including our approach to care, services and amenities.
Why Choose Johns Hopkins
-
Our experienced maternal-fetal specialists (perinatologists) offer evaluation and treatment of a wide variety of maternal and fetal conditions. Physicians are available for consultations during pregnancy, during delivery and after the birth of your baby — and are also here for emergency consultations. We can work with your primary provider to make recommendations for your care.
-
From maternal-fetal medicine specialists to genetic counselors, sonographers and nursing staff, our team works together to guide women and their partners through the process of genetic counseling, fetal diagnostics and treatment, and labor and delivery.
-
In addition to caring for patients, our team engages in research to improve outcomes for mothers and their babies throughout pregnancy and beyond. We are leading experts in maternal and fetal medicine because of the expertise and diverse research interests of our faculty, as well as our collaborations with other disciplines and departments across Johns Hopkins Medicine.
-
We lead unique programs for managing complications in pregnancy including multiple pregnancies, advanced obstetric surgery, fetal anomalies, genetic disorders, heart conditions and pregnancy, and infectious diseases.
