The Division of Cardiac Anesthesia offers a one-year Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited cardiothoracic fellowship following the completion of three years of clinical anesthesia. The division provides anesthesia for approximately 1,200-1,400 cases per year. including coronary artery bypass procedures, valve replacement and repair, pediatric and congenital disease related procedures, ventricular assist device insertion, heart and lung transplantation, transcutaneous aortic valve implantation and major aortic surgery.Program Director(s)

The overriding principle of Johns Hopkins’ adult critical care fellowship is that one does not specialize but “generalize” in critical care medicine. Together, our hospital and the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center perform over 4,000 deliveries annually. The pediatric anesthesia fellowship is a one-year ACGME-approved fellowship program designed to prepare the individual for an academic or private practice career in pediatric anesthesiology. This combination of clinical, teaching and research activities provides the best preparation for a career in pediatric anesthesia. The pediatric critical care experience at The Johns Hopkins Hospital provides for a broad multidisciplinary exposure to the many facets of pediatric critical care medicine. The pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is a 40-bed unit with a balance of medical and surgical patients. Johns Hopkins Children’s Center is the pediatric trauma and transplant center (heart, liver, kidney) in our region, with the largest cardiac surgery extracorporeal membrane oxygenation program in the state of Maryland and an active critical care transport team.Program Director(s)

The acute pain medicine and regional anesthesia fellowship helps fellows to develop the skills and knowledge to perform basic, intermediate and advanced regional nerve blocks. Graduates will be experts in the management of acute pain in the perioperative and peritrauma period, will have developed the knowledge and skills necessary to be a valued consultant in the perioperative management of acute and acute-on-chronic pain, along with expertise in the performance of peripheral nerve and central neuraxial blocks.Program Director(s)
