The pediatric critical care experience at The Johns Hopkins Hospital provides for a broad multidisciplinary exposure to the many facets of pediatric critical care medicine. The pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is a 40-bed unit with a balance of medical and surgical patients. Johns Hopkins Children’s Center is the pediatric trauma and transplant center (heart, liver, kidney) in our region, with the largest cardiac surgery extracorporeal membrane oxygenation program in the state of Maryland and an active critical care transport team.
