Michael Preston

Michael Preston is Director of East Baltimore Community Affairs for Johns Hopkins University and Medicine. Michael has more than 20 years of experience in community affairs, government relations and communications and has consistently succeeded in forging partnerships between business and community leaders and building bridges in the community through thoughtful strategic messaging and open communications.

Previously, Michael served in the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention, the Maryland Behavioral Health Administration and the Empower Baltimore Management Corporation. At Empower Baltimore, he worked with Baltimore City officials to develop a program for small businesses to gain access to City development opportunities, coordinated and managed special events and was the company spokesperson to the media, community groups and business leaders. Michael led a statewide public awareness campaign regarding the opioid crisis in Maryland during his time at the Maryland Behavioral Health Administration and worked with the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention on a comprehensive marketing and communication plan to demonstrate the value and benefit the office brings to the community beyond its role in law enforcement. Michael is a graduate of Towson University where he received a BA in Mass Communication.

Chrystal Green

Chrystal Green is Assistant Director of East Baltimore Community Affairs. Prior to joining GCA, Chrystal worked at Johns Hopkins Health System as a project coordinator and contract administrator. She previously worked as a mental health counselor at the University of Maryland Family Medicine and the Renaissance Center. At the Rouse Community Center in Sandtown-Winchester Chrystal served as a group therapy facilitator. She also worked at Black Entertainment Television (BET) as a Senior Research Analyst. Chrystal earned a BA in Psychology from Spelman College and a Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology from Howard University. Chrystal has strong ties to the East Baltimore community, as a long-time resident.
