Sexual Medicine and Reconstructive Urology Fellowship
The sexual medicine and reconstructive urology fellowship program aims to train fellows in the cognitive and technical skills necessary to be competent in the practice of sexual medicine. The prototypical training program consists of two major phases (or assignments):
- Basic training (12 months) – Full-time, continuous in-office and operating room exposure for the basic diagnostic and therapeutic management of sexual disorders.
- Advanced training (12 months) – Full-time, continuous in-office and operating room exposure for the diagnostic and therapeutic management of sexual disorders, performed at an advanced level.
- Research – During the course of the two-year program, trainees will also be involved in ongoing basic scientific or clinical research related to the field of sexual medicine.
In special circumstances involving a candidate who has achieved post-residency clinical and surgical proficiencies, a modified training program may be designed at the discretion of the Program Director.
By the end of training, trainees should be able to execute graduate medicine competency-based goals and objectives. It is expected that graduates of this program will establish a career in academics or in a similar arena and will make major contributions in the field of sexual medicine. This may include leadership roles, publications, lectures and training, and high-level clinical practice, such as performing prosthetic surgeries or pelvic/genital reconstruction.

Accreditation: The program has met approval of requirements for equivalency by the Graduate Medical Education Committee of The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. It is also certified by the Sexual Medicine Society of North America.
