Grace Freire, MD
Pediatric Cardiology
Dr. Freire specializes in pediatric cardiology in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute, evaluating and treating patients with congenital heart disease starting in the womb. She also leads the hospital’s pediatric pulmonary hypertension program, managing patients with pulmonary hypertension from different causes. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Daniel Mauriello, MD
Pediatric Cardiology
Dr. Mauriello is a pediatric cardiologist who treats children with congenital heart disease and has expertise in fetal, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. After graduating from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, he completed a residency in pediatric and adolescent medicine and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education, located at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His research interests include clinical outcomes and quality improvement measures.
James Thompson, MD
Pediatric Cardiology
Dr. Thompson specializes in interventional cardiology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. He joined the hospital staff in 2020. He was previously a pediatric cardiologist and medical director for Child Cardiology Associates in Fairfax, Virginia, and chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology of the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute at Inova Fairfax Hospital. He has been a principal investigator for multiple clinical trials for devices to close defects in the heart through catheters rather than open-heart surgery. He has performed device closures of over 1,500 defects.

Pulmonology
Dr. McKinley specializes in pediatric pulmonology in the Department of Medicine. His areas of clinical focus include cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, acute asthma, lung disease related to sickle cell disease, interstitial and rare lung disease.
Deanna Green, MD
Pulmonology
Dr. Green, M.D., M.H.S., is a pediatric pulmonologist and the medical director of the nationally accredited Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Care Center and the CF Therapeutic Development Center at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She is focused on clinical care for patients with CF and clinical research using genetic modifiers of CF disease. Dr. Green is also an assistant professor of pediatrics with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Neonatology
Joana Machry, M.D., FAAP, specializes in newborn medicine at the Johns Hopkins All Children's Maternal, Fetal & Neonatal Institute. She serves as the program director for the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program and is ranked as assistant professor in pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Machry received Johns Hopkins Medicine Clinical Awards for Clinical Collaboration and Teamwork for leading the NICU Pulmonary Taskforce in 2017 and the Tracheostomy Team in 2022.
