Our clinic is one of the only in Florida to provide specialized, multidisciplinary care for patients with Turner syndrome. Turner syndrome, a genetic condition in which a female is missing part or all of the second X chromosome, which can cause several medical issues. This can include things like growth issues, hormone imbalances, congenital heart defects, kidney issues, hearing loss or vision issues.
Our multidisciplinary clinic brings together specialists in endocrinology, cardiology and genetics to provide your child with comprehensive care. We also provide referrals to Johns Hopkins All Children’s specialists in areas such as audiology, nephrology, neuropsychology, developmental pediatrics and ophthalmology, depending on your child’s needs.
Patients are typically seen once a year by our whole clinic team and will have individual appointments with their specialist physicians throughout the year as needed.
Throughout the course of your child’s treatment our genetics specialist, Melissa Crenshaw, M.D., who has clinical and research expertise in Turner syndrome as part of the Turner Syndrome Society of the United States and the Turner Syndrome Research Registry, follows your child’s treatment to make sure they are receiving all the monitoring they need.
