Administrative Team

Kristine Kirstein

Executive Director, Departments of Surgery and Anesthesia 

Kristine Kirstein, MHA, is the executive director for the Department of Surgery and Department of Anesthesia at Johns Hopkins All Children’s, where she facilitates strategic growth of these programs and provides administrative oversight of operations and business planning.

She joined the hospital staff in 2012 as an administrative resident. She has served as program coordinator and program manager in the Office of the Vice Dean, and in 2021 was named director of academic integration, supporting many aspects of our academic transformation, including business operations within the Office of the Vice Dean, Office of Medical Education and Center for Medical Simulation and Innovative Education, along with growth of fellowship programs and academic partnerships.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in telecommunications and Master of Health Administration from the University of Florida. She was a member of the 2016 Leadership St. Petersburg Class. Her work on a national committee with other pediatric health care administrators regarding clinical FTE has been published in the Journal of Pediatrics.

Arlene Gendron

Arlene Gendron joined Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in June 2016. She previously worked in various capacities at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. Currently, Arlene serves as the Practice Administrator for the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. She is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the department. She also serves as the Education Coordinator for the department. She obtained her degree in Business Management and Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland, University College. Arlene has over thirty years of experience in research, clinical, and academics.

Lena Gendron

Mylene (Myles) Santana

Mylene (Myles) Santana joined Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in 2025 as the Administrative Coordinator for the Department of Anesthesia. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins All Children’s, she was a Certified Paralegal with certifications in paralegal studies from the University of Miami. Along with her legal background, she attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, where she received a culinary degree and training. She worked as a Special Events Coordinator and Food & Beverage Supervisor at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, where she was marked by earning multiple awards for her outstanding performance and leadership skills.

Amy Traylor is the Executive Assistant for the Department of Anesthesia at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. She joined the hospital staff in 2009. She has previously worked in various departments within the organization, joining the Department of Anesthesia in 2020. She earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from Palm Beach Atlantic University.
