Julianna Amorese, a nurse practitioner in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, discusses her abstract about early initiation of nutrition for neonatal patients with complex congenital heart disease (CHD), which was presented at the Eighth World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery. The goal of research on this topic was to reduce the incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and increase patients’ weight during their hospital stay.
