Pediatrician Brandon Smith discusses his team’s research about the medical needs and social drivers of health for patients with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), which was presented during the 2025 Academic Pediatric Association Region 4 Meeting. A chronic respiratory disease that can develop in infants born prematurely, BPD is due to an imbalance between injury related to being born early and a repair process that occurs in their developing lungs.
