Experts from Johns Hopkins Children’s Center participated in various sessions and presentations during the 2023 Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting. In this video, pediatric cardiologist Allen Everett and neuroscientist Lauren Jantzie discuss their research on cyclohexanone (CXO) and brain connectivity functions. CXO is an organic solvent that is ubiquitous in the ICU environment and common in IV bags and stopcocks to IV tubing. Neonates who had cardiac surgery are exposed to this solvent in the PICU. In this study, the researchers explore the neurodevelopment of neonates who are exposed to CXO.
