Pathway Programs

BSI-SIP is a 10-week summer research program for rising college juniors and seniors interested in biomedical research careers.

BRBT students focus on biophysics research, first learning how to prepare reagents and materials for biophysical studies, and then quickly transition into microbiology techniques and DNA and protein engineering.

CSM-SIP seeks to develop scholars from low-income and educationally under-resourced backgrounds to help them build the accomplishments, skills, network, and support necessary to achieve advanced careers in biomedical, medical, health-related, and STEM professions.

The Summer Scholars Program’s mission is to expose bilingual and bi-cultural high school students to careers in medicine, research, and healthcare and equip them to make informed decisions about their education and their careers.

This program, in collaboration with Baltimore City’s YouthWorks program, has expanded its reach to allow more immigrant Latinx youth the opportunities to gain soft skills while also helping youth realize the importance of their bilingualism in a professional setting.

The Diversity and Academic Advancement Summer Institute (DAASI) is a partnership between Thread and JHUSOM’s Office of Student Pipeline Programs created in 2010, is actively seeking hosts for Thread students in their labs or offices for five or eight weeks this summer.

This program is designed as a 10-week summer program for undergraduate students interested in HIV and/or HCV health disparities and their intersection with substance use (addiction and overdose), violence, mental health, and the social determinants of health.

With a unique model for training researchers at the interface between nanoscience and medicine, this program works to give undergraduates a true perspective of graduate research with the hope that this experience will inspire a pursuit of a PhD.

The IUSCMP provides extended research opportunities with ICM core faculty members who specialize in areas such as computational cardiology, medical imaging, computational neuroscience, computational genomics and big data science.

A 10-week program that provides research experiences for undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds who are considering graduate studies in neuroscience. NeuroSIP Scholars will receive a stipend and housing at Hopkins.

JHIBS is a summer research program for junior and senior high school students that helps them get exposed to and discover a passion for a career in the neurological sciences.

This is a multi-year program which strives to mentor, develop, and foster scientific skills, intellectual curiosity, and personal growth in undergraduates from underrepresented and deaf or hard-of-hearing (D/HH) backgrounds into PhD or MD/PhD programs in the neurosciences.

Our mission is to expose highly motivated undergraduates to a multi-year education-research mentoring institute focused on NeuroHIV and its associated comorbidities in order to serve those urban and rural communities most affected by the diseases.

This is a 10-week program that provides experience in research laboratories to students of diverse backgrounds who are considering graduate studies in neuroscience, engineering and related areas.

The program provides opportunities for public health education and experience to address health disparities and promote health equity, with the goal to promote a more diversified and equal health outcome system for citizens.

This is a nine-week summer and academic year maternal child health (MCH) program that provides integrated public health, clinical and research learning experiences, which is designed for college freshmen, sophomores and juniors in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas.

The program educates and empowers students from underrepresented backgrounds to become health professionals and change agents and provides students with a mix of work based learning in clinical, community health, laboratory research settings, and classroom learning.

Students work on specific research projects under the supervision of an assigned mentor. Projects span a broad range of research, from the basic science of endothelial or epithelial cell biology to asthma epidemiology.

This 8-week outreach program seeks to develop exceptional high school students from the greater Baltimore area by introducing them to academic research with a secondary emphasis on STEM and health-related professions.
