Division Director Executive Leadership Program

The goal of this program is to develop Division Directors’ understanding of the leadership structure of JHUSOM and refine their leadership skills in achieving excellence in their divisional roles and responsibilities.

Objectives:

  • To increase JHUSOM organizational knowledge
  • To refine leadership knowledge and expertise in several domains/themes, including:
    • communication;
    • negotiating and managing up and down;
    • strategic planning; finances and budgeting;
    • coaching, mentoring, and sponsoring faculty and staff;
    • human relations functions, including recruiting and retaining faculty and staff;
    • delegating;
    • change management;
    • wellness;
    • time management.
  • To share best practices, implement peer mentoring, and build community amongst division directors.
  • To train and retain faculty leaders.

The inaugural Division Director Leadership Program consisted of session covering the following topics:

  • Systems and Operations
  • Finances and Budgeting
  • Hospital
  • Business enterprise expansion
  • Human Relations
  • Faculty Development
