    The country’s first medical residency program, the Osler Medical Residency Training Program continues its longstanding history of training future leaders in medicine. To that end, the department provides three years of comprehensive training in general internal medicine.     The Department of Pathology at Johns Hopkins provides in-depth training in anatomic pathology (AP) and clinical pathology, either combined or individually, to newly graduated M.D.s and those with previous postdoctoral experience. House officers receive training in diagnostic anatomic and clinical pathology in a setting of clinical and academic excellence. The department also offers a combined AP and neuropathology track.

    The pediatric neurology residency trains three residents per year in clinical neurology (with inpatient, outpatient and consultative experiences), neurosurgical problems and the scientific basis of neurology. Ours was one of the first programs to have pediatric neurology residents serve as senior residents on the Adult Neurology service, which has led to a highly integrated training experience over the years.

    The independent residency program is accredited by ACGME and open to residents who have already completed a surgery residency.This 3-year residency provides a concentrated program in plastic surgery for residents who have satisfactorily completed a formal training program (and are board admissible or certified) in general surgery, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, urology or oral and maxillofacial surgery (the latter requiring two years of general surgery training in addition to an M.D./D.D.S.) Successful completion of these ACGME or ADA accredited programs fulfills the prerequisite training requirement.
