About Jingyan Xu
Primary Academic Title
Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Science
Background
Dr. Xu received her B.S. degree from Tsinghua University and earned her M.S. and Ph.D. from Stanford University. Dr. Xu is an expert in developing image reconstruction algorithms and task-based image quality evaluation methods. Her works cover different imaging modalities including SPECT, PET, and x-ray CT. Her current projects involve developing and improving different components in x-ray CT image formation, which refers to the data processing chain that starts from a patient entering the CT scanner, going through the data acquisition and image reconstruction process, and ends with the presentation and interpretation of a CT image. Some sample projects include: (a) Spectral data acquisition on energy-integrating CT systems using a Stationary Spatial Spectral Encoder, (b) Characterizing the noise and resolution properties of deep-learning CT image formation, (c) Task-based measures of image quality using ROC/AUC analysis.
