Background

Dr. Douglas L. Forman was elected to Phi Beta Kappa during his undergraduate studies, then he obtained his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Yale University, where he won numerous awards. His training culminated with a subspecialty fellowship in Breast and Aesthetic Surgery at Georgetown University.

Dr. Forman is a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons. As a Clinical Instructor in Plastic Surgery at Georgetown University and an Assistant Professor, Part-Time, in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins University, he is directly involved with the training of tomorrow’s plastic surgeons.

He is the current Vice-Chair of the Medical Staff at Suburban Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland and will be the Chief of the Medical Staff beginning in July, 2020. Previously he had been the Chief of Surgery and is a former Chief of the Plastic Surgery Subsection, both at Suburban Hospital.

Dr. Forman was the first President of the Maryland Society of Plastic Surgeons from 2010-2012 and remains active in state issues that impact the safety of patients undergoing plastic surgery procedures. On a national level, he is a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and he serves on various committees within each society to help promote safe patient care in an ethical manner.

Dr. Forman offers both surgical and non-surgical treatments in order to achieve and maintain a more youthful appearance. His specialty in aesthetic surgery enables him to provide a wide array of facial rejuvenation as well as, breast and body contouring procedures. Eyelid surgery, face and neck lift procedures, breast augmentation, breast lift or reduction, breast reconstruction, Vaser ultrasonic assisted liposuction, tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, male breast reduction, transgender surgery and body contouring after massive weight loss are just a sampling of the procedures that Dr. Forman performs on a regular basis. He and his attentive, highly trained staff will individualize a patient’s care to help them achieve their desired goals in a safe and caring manner.

Injectables such as Botox, Juvederm, Volbella, and Voluma complement other procedures performed or can offer a separate, non-surgical means to creating or sustaining a refreshed facial appearance. Laser treatments, including laser hair removal, and an on-site MediSpa offer non-surgical treatments that help to rejuvenate the skin of the face, neck and chest regions with little to no downtime.

Dr. Forman has been recognized consistently as a Top Physician in Plastic Surgery by Washingtonian (2005-2019), Bethesda, Northern Virginia, and Consumers’ Checkbook Magazines. The Plastic Surgery Institute of Washington was selected as the Best of Bethesda for numerous times and again for 2019. In addition, he has been honored as a Top Doctor in Washington Post Magazine and a Super Doctor by Castle Connolly for the Washington, Baltimore and Northern Virginia region. US News and World Report have selected Dr. Forman as a Top Doctor for several consecutive years.

Dr. Forman regularly lectures on new developments and procedures in plastic surgery. He has particular interests relating to emerging technologies in plastic surgery, patient safety advocacy issues and leadership topics.
