Jennifer Thorne, M.D., Ph.D., is the Cross Family Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, where she is also chief of the Division of Ocular Immunology. Dr. Thorne holds a joint appointment as professor of epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

An internationally recognized ophthalmologist, Dr. Thorne is an expert in the evaluation and management of patients with uveitis and other related immune-mediated disorders. Dr. Thorne also directs the Mucous Membrane Pemphigoid clinic, a multi-disciplinary specialty clinic designed to evaluate and treat patients with conjunctival diseases.

Dr. Thorne's research interests include white dot syndromes including birdshot chorioretinitis, multifocal choroiditis and punctate inner choroiditis. She also studies juvenile idiopathic arthritis-related uveitis and treatment outcomes of immunosuppressive drug therapy.

Dr. Thorne received her M.D. degree from the University of Virginia and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania's Scheie Eye Institute. She completed her uveitis fellowship at Wilmer and completed her Ph.D. in epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

      Dr. Thorne is patient, explains things in a way we understand, and is very knowledgeable. She is one of the only Uveitis providers who has been direct with what my daughter needs and the next plans and goals. Her condition is very complicated and her decisiveness helps me feel better.       I am running out of great things to say about Dr. Thorne. She should be in the John Hopkins Hall of Fame if you ever build one to honor specialists. I thank God for Dr. Thorne because she has done so much to preserve my vision. She is outstanding at finding ways to help me and she always gives me a great pep talk' to keep me encouraged regardless of my messed up situation. She is a wonderful doctor and human being.

      I don't even know what to say anymore about Dr. Thorne. I don't have opthamologists like her In NJ. She has made my quality of life better than It was between 2009 - 2011. I wish every doctor was like her.When I am waiting to see her, I see how she treats every patient. She treats every patient like a VIP' patient. I thank God for her.

      Dr. Thorne is a straight up Kickass' provider. Being from New Jersey, that is the ultimate level 10 review. Dr. Thorne has preserved my vision and has restored a quality of life that I lost back in 2009 when my eye problems started. I am forever grateful to this doctor.

      Dr. Thorne is everything you could want or expect from a Doctor. She listens to my concerns and explains in detail all the options and possible outcomes. She never makes me feel rushed or dumb for asking follow up questions. Its a very busy office and she still manages to make me feel like I am her only patient and not just a number.
