Research Summary

Dr. Ziai's research is focused on mechanisms of injury and recovery in intracerebral hemorrhage with focus on multicenter clinical trials of minimally invasive surgery to treat hemorrhagic stroke. She was safety event committee chair for the CLEAR III and MISTIE III clinical trials, currently for the ASPIRE trial, and is a coPI on the ongoing NIH funded BEACH trial. She was co-Chair for the 2022 AHA guideline on management of acute intracerebral hemorrhage.  She is also PI of the NIH-funded REASSESS ICH study which is looking at cognitive function in patients treated with minimally invasive surgery for ICH.
